BLAC is a space based in Surrey, BC that is dedicated to supporting multidisciplinary art created by Black youth. We are committed to fostering collaboration and community among BIPOC folk living in the unceded territories of the Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, Musqueam, Qayqayt, Tsleil Waututh and Tsawwassen First Nations peoples, “Surrey” and greater Vancouver. We aim to provide programming that speaks to the experiences of these underserved populations, hosting hosting exhibitions, events, classes, professional development workshops, and build mentor relationships between established and emerging artists.
We hope to be a means to explore ideas that empower us to imagine, re-imagine and create more inclusive and equitable futures.
BLAC is an Artist-run centre that is a part of the Solid State Community Industries co-operatives.
